Will you stay or go?

John 6:60-71

6/20/22

In October 2021, I decided to switch from the "Masters of Divinity" (MDiv) program to the "Masters of Arts in Christian Education" (MACE) program. I did so for three reasons:

1. The MACE program would better prepare me for youth ministry.

2. The MACE program is 20 fewer hours than the MDiv.

3. The MACE program does not require a student to take Greek or Hebrew.

These three reasons sounded like a "win-win" scenario for me. After making the switch, I asked the administrator, "Do I need to finish the Greek class I am in right now?" The administrator told me, "You can drop out, but you will not get your money back." Knowing I had only nine class periods left, I decided to finish the class.

I had two options with my Greek class last year. I could have stayed (which I did), or I could have left. The same is true for a relationship with Jesus.

Will you stay or go when the teaching gets tough, and the challenges grow?

In today's text, we read many "disciples" left Jesus when the teaching became tough. They apparently left because the teaching was too much, and Jesus was not who they thought He would be. Then, Jesus turned to His twelve disciples.

Peter acknowledged eternal life comes from Jesus. Do you acknowledge the same thing as Peter?

Expect challenges to come, and expect Jesus to have expectations. In these moments, you must decide if you will stay with Jesus or go with someone else's or your ways.
