This is Foolish
1 Corinthians 1:18-2:5

Expectations!
We all have expectations. Maybe you expected your favorite college football team to win this past weekend. Perhaps you expected a nice lunch after church yesterday only to change plans. That nice meal you expected turned into leftovers—such a bummer.
Imagine you were a Jew during the time of Jesus's ministry. You hear rumors that "The Messiah is Here!" You look for a military conquering ruler who will save you from the evil armies trying to take you down. You expect this type of ruler only to get one saying, "I am a servant." You begin to say, "What? He cannot be the Messiah! The good news that this guy is the Messiah is just foolish." Perhaps it is foolish to those who do not understand Jesus.
Even some Gentiles, non-Jews, thought this Good News was foolish. Death was not a victory in their eyes; it was defeat.
Is the Gospel foolish to you? If you believe In Jesus and His wonder-working power, then you understand He is the true Messiah. You know that death is victory. This message is not foolish but powerful.
