Access Denied

Luke 9:23

9/19/22

Do you know that saying, “Access Denied”? Imagine you are a character in a movie who is trying to enter a hidden layer or building with a card, and the entrance says, “Access Denied.” When you see the message, “Access Denied,” you know that you can not enter the building or layer. You must find another route or entrance.

When it comes to our walk with Christ, we get the message “Access Denied” when we try to return to our old selves. The statement “Access Denied” appears because we should daily surrender ourselves to Jesus. We should not be chasing our old selves. We are not who we once were because we are a new creation in Jesus.

Jesus says that we should “deny ourselves and follow him.” (Luke 9:23) Today, you are to give up your old life. You are supposed to do that every day. Our old life was fun, but it led us to a path of destruction. Our access to ourselves should be denied. We should not want to go back.

Why would we go back to our old selves? What is so great about a life full of loss and brokenness? In Jesus, our life is alive and well. We are made whole in Jesus.

Today, do not allow access to your old self. When you try to go back, let the message read “Access Denied.”
