A Baby Instead of a Conqueror
Luke 1:31-33
12/19/22
If you lived under unfair oppression for hundreds of years and were promised a savior was coming, would you not expect this savior to be a mighty warrior? A conqueror?
Jesus knew Israel and everyone needed more than to be saved from unfair oppression. The oppression 2,000 years ago was temporary. The oppression we face now could affect our eternity.
We were all born as babies, but we may not all be a conquering war hero. We could not relate to a war-conquering hero as much as we could a baby. But Jesus came as a humble baby to relate more to us.
Jesus relates to us. He is the Son of the Most High, but He also came as a humble baby to remind us that He is peace. He came to bring salvation for all. He came to bring joy to a dark and fallen world.
He came not as expected. Instead, He came as what we needed.
