Firm Steps
Firm Steps
I am usually an early riser. I have yet to manage to join the 5 am club, but you will most likely find me up between 6 am and 7 am. When my niece spends the night, we usually stay up late. Even though we were up late, I still set my alarm to wake myself up no later than 7 am. So, when I leave my upstairs room and walk down the stairs, I try to be as quiet as possible. However, being quiet did not work out one morning.
I took one step and slipped. Immediately, I fell on my back and slid down the stairs. In the process, I woke everyone up, including my niece, who usually sleeps until 9 or 10 am. Talk about needing firm steps.
Psalms 37:23-24 (NIV) says, "The Lord makes firm the steps
of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand."
We need firm steps every day because we will slip on our own. Thankfully, when we walk with God, He guides our steps. He does not want to see us stumble.
Stumbling, tripping, or falling down stairs is not fun and can be painful. While I was not seriously injured after falling down the stairs, my back hurt most of the morning. When we stumble in life, it is painful. It disrupts our walk with God. But, because of Jesus and His grace, we are upheld by the hand of God. God cares so much for you and loves you that He watches your steps. He walks with us, giving us the confidence to refrain from tempting sin and overcoming challenging times.
Does this mean you will not stumble? No! I never thought I would fall down the stairs, but I did. Even though you will stumble when you walk through life, you can have confidence because God is there to uphold you.
Walk in confidence with God today.
