People Make Life Difficult

People can make us mad to the point that we say things like, "If everyone thought or acted like me, the world would be a better place." We think we know everything and always have the correct answers. However, sometimes, we run into people who make life difficult for us. People's opinions and criticisms can make us doubt God's plans.

Even when God makes promises, we tend to listen to man's advice instead. God, who has never failed in His promises, gives us hope. Even when we trust God's plans, sometimes we can let man's opinions keep us from living in God's hopeful promises. Thankfully, two men in the Bible stood by God's promises.

Numbers 13:27-32 says, "They gave Moses this account: "We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. 28 But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there. 29 The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live near the sea and along the Jordan."
30 Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, "We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it."
31 But the men who had gone up with him said, "We can't attack those people; they are stronger than we are."

Caleb stood for God's plans and promises. He is an example of what it means to have faith in God's promises. What has God promised you? How has man tried to keep you from believing in those promises? For example, God promises He will always be faithful to His children. However, man will tempt you to believe that God does not care about you and has abandoned you.

People can make life difficult for us. God promised the Israelites that they would enter the promised land. However, ten men doubted that promise and feared entering the land. Thankfully, Caleb and Joshua, who also believed in God's promise, trusted that God would be with them.

When people make life difficult for you, remember that God has never failed in what He promised you. Trust God and His Word instead of man. Man's word often leads to lies and discouragement. God's words lead to life everlasting and faithful promises.
