It is Worth the Risk
It is Worth the Risk
How risky are you? Are you willing to take chances with little to no certainty? Are you willing to do something, even if it means going against everything you know or changing your reputation and how people view you?
In our next study, we will examine a man who lived a secret faith but showed courage when necessary. Today, we are going to learn about Joseph of Arimathea. Mark 15:43 says, Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body."
Joseph was a part of a group that sought to put an end to Jesus. However, Joseph, whom many describe as a secret disciple, did not agree to Jesus's crucifixion. Luke 23:50-51 explains, "50 Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, 51 who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea, and he himself was waiting for the kingdom of God.
So, where did he take a risk? Where did he demonstrate his faith? He demonstrated his faith when he asked Pontious Pilate for the body of Jesus and placed it in one of his tombs. He knew that his peers would ridicule him and question his decision, but Joseph did what he thought was best.
Where can you demonstrate faith today? Are you afraid that your friends and family might ridicule you? What the Easter 4 share in common is their impressive and encouraging demonstration of faith. We must remember Joseph used his influence for good. God has given you a platform, whether big or small. Use that platform for God's glory.
