The Verse: But Have Everlasting Life

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Famous preacher, evangelist, author, you name it, he probably did it all; Billy Graham spoke of Heaven by saying, "My home is in Heaven. I'm just traveling through this world." Christian author Max Lucado said, "God never said that the journey would be easy, but He did say that the arrival would be worthwhile."

I love the words of the famous hymn, "When We All Get to Heaven." It says, "When we all get to Heaven, what day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus, we'll sing and shout the victory!"

I am ready to shout that. I am ready to sing of the victory in Heaven. If you have accepted the gift of salvation from Jesus and believe in what we have discussed for the past eight weeks, you will join others in eternity and sing in victory to our glorious King Jesus.

Philippians 3:20 says, "But our citizenship is in Heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ." Right now, your citizenship is here on earth in a city, state, and country. But this is not our home. This earth is our battleground where we have a job to do. We are not like the false teachers and unbelievers in Paul's time when he wrote to the Philippians. They were focused on earthly things. (Philippians 3:19)

We focus on Heavenly things. We focus on the things above. We know that the free gift of salvation from Jesus Christ means our home is in Heaven. We believe in Jesus's promise to spend eternal life with Him in glory.

Oh, how we should be ready to sing in victory.
